South Valley Chamber Announces Cakes by Edith as Small Business of the Year Award Recipient
SANDY, Utah – The South Valley Chamber has named Cakes by Edith the recipient of its 2026 Small Business of the Year Award. Cakes by Edith will be recognized at the South Valley Chamber’s annual Titan Awards on October 27 at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.
For nearly two decades, Cakes by Edith has served the South Valley with handcrafted pastries that bring together Mexican and American traditions. What began as a dream for Edith and Jorge Lopez has grown into a lasting family business, with their daughters, Alma and Diana, joining the company after earning business degrees from Utah Valley University.
“For us, being named Small Business of the Year by the South Valley Chamber is an incredible honor and something we are deeply grateful for,” said Alma Lopez, Cakes by Edith co-owner and head cake decorator. “This recognition is a reminder that with hard work, dedication, and passion, anything is possible. We are incredibly thankful for our loyal customers, our community, and especially our amazing employees and team, who work alongside us every day and make everything we do possible. This award belongs to all of us, and we are honored and proud to be named this year's recipient.”
Through its longevity, family leadership and commitment to its craft, Cakes by Edith has become a beloved local business and a reflection of the entrepreneurial spirit that drives South Valley communities.
The Titan Awards have been a South Valley Chamber tradition since 2009, recognizing businesses and community leaders for their contributions to the South Valley. The Small Business of the Year Award was established in 2022 to recognize a small business that demonstrates exceptional commitment to its customers, employees and community.

On Oct. 27, Cakes by Edith will be presented with its Small Business of the Year Award alongside Titan Award honorees Andrea Kendell, President and CEO of Swire Coca-Cola, USA, Fraser Bullock, president and executive chair of the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games organizing committee, and Jim Olson president of the Utah Jazz for Smith Entertainment Group (SEG).
